The Epic 'Standing' Tango At 2014 Euro Standard

September 9, 2016

Ballroom dancing is all about moving your body together with your partner to create a beautiful motion to the music, but in this tango competition it didn't went that way!

Take a look at what happened when Jaak Vainomaa & Taina Savikurki (number 56), who represented Finland, encountered Emanuel Valeri & Tania Kehlet (number 57) from Denmark in the semi-final round of the 2014 WDSF European DanceSport Championship Standard in Moscow, RUS, on 29 March 2014. The 'standing' battle begins at 1.09 min in the video when Jaak was moving into a corner where Emanuel was there. It was almost ONE minute that they did nothing but only intense tango face expression! Surely a hard time for judges to pick the best tango face to proceed to the final round.

May the best face win!

Despite having received massive cheering from audiences, Jaak & Taina unfortunately didn't get through the final round and were ranked #13 in this program. The winners of this competition were Emanuel & Tania, followed closely by Simone & Annette (2nd), and Dmitry & Olga (3rd).
